Check out my best attempt at talking about my position @ Reasoning Mind. A little love for our Campus Representatives: Evan Talks about Being a Campus Rep.

If you're interested in the job, here's a few more details:
1. We are interested in driven students at various campuses around the United States who love working for a non-profit.

REASONS to be Thankful

Today, I would like to share some of the discussion we had as campus reps at the Reasoning Mind Summit (Fall 2012).

As campus reps, we represents Harvey Mudd (California), Cornell (New York), Rice University (Texas), Dartmouth College (New Hampshire), and Vanderbilt (Tennessee). Now, let me tell you, that leaves some diverse conversations!! With each of us bringing unique campus opinions, environments, and general educational differences, our conversations sparked new ideas and a new appreciation for what we have in common as Reasoning Mind Campus Reps: a love for education and agreed vision for education reform starting with MATH education. As we enjoyed our coffee, fellowship, and note-taking, we were allowed to pound out questions to Analyst Alex Randall and Talent Development Associate Jaclyn Youngblood. They did say the job can be demanding, but that was only a small part of the discussion. The majority of both their viewpoints of Reasoning Mind is that their office and job allows them to enjoy spending 8 hours a day at the office or doing outreach at various locations. They love the work they do--they are about helping kids, and they love the environment and their fellow employees. As I took the tour of the Houston office, a good example of how much the employees appreciate Reasoning Mind and all its employees was written on one of their "chalk walls"--I know, cool, right? Check out what the Knowledge Engineer was thankful for as Thanksgiving approached...

The second picture is of Jaclyn, John (Campus Rep Rice), Madeline (CR Cornell), Alex Randall (Analyst/Talent Development), and Ellie (CR Harvey Mudd). What a great time we had getting coffee #local, discussing Reasoning Mind, sharing ideas, and reminiscing our wonderful Campus Rep Summit 2012.

A Factual type of Tuesday

Last Friday, on our tour of the Reasoning Mind headquarters in Houston, TX, I met the Reasoning Mind Math Genie!!!!! Check out our moment captured in time below. For those of you not familiar with the Genie, she is unique to the interface of Reasoning Mind. She is the "genius" of Reasoning Mind City, congratulating students on achievements, explaining mistakes, and demonstrating key concepts. She's the constant encourager in the world of math. Walking around the office, employees can walk by one office door which has an expo board which displays "Genie messages," which are kids' comments to the genie--some of them are quire adorable. Genie is often mentioned as a "best friend" or someone who really cares about the kids. :) At Reasoning Mind, one can always see the impact of what one is doing--the kids and their responses to Reasoning Mind makes my heart smile.

On Friday evening, Jaclyn, Alex, Carmelle, (spelling?!), and another kind friend took us campus reps to the downtown annual Tree Lighting ceremony!--It's really a celebration!!!!! And, it truly marks December 1st as the Countdown to Christmas. It was a jolly time, as their were Santa volunteers handing out blinking santa hats (a definite plus), and I stepped away for a cookie cake slice with icing--YUM! Many young talented dancers, singers, and band members shared their talent with the city--even the Sensations Review showed up to belt out some Christmas tunes. Fireworks ignited the atmosphere as the giant Tree in the downtown center lighted up, marking the 25 days 'til Christmas. Not only is Reasoning Mind a great organization to be a part of, the city of Houston is a wonderful place to be. We discussed a few pluses for living in Houston--great PEOPLE (Friendly, kind, and truly helpful). Also, the cost of living is lower, so the wages you make in Texas can take one further!!! Just saying.

Summit 2012

Back in Oklahoma after a wonderful 48 hours in Houston, TX at the Campus Recruiters Summit. I have so many things to say that I'm going to break up my trip into several posts. I know I know... anticipation!

Many of you probably think that as a campus recruiter my job is to sell the company to you--to make you believe in its mission. Now, I don't have to "sell" anything. I get the privilege of telling you firsthand about an organization that I 100% support and 100% believe in. Seeing is believing in this case.

I arrived in Houston early Thursday evening, and my luck landed me in Jaclyn Youngblood's car for a ride to the hotel. She is the best example of a Talent Development Associate--she's friendly, welcoming, and draws energy from conversing with people. She took the time to take me to the hotel, around the city, and even to dinner. She had just met me, and yet at dinner I felt like we had been friends for a long time. It's a gift. Reasoning Mind sure knows how pick 'em. My fellow campus recruiter, Madeline (from Cornell) arrived later that evening and we hit the hay, as Friday morning at 8am came early.

What a day it was. Arriving at the office, we shared some breakfast and toured the office. The office is a welcoming environment and full of energy--including the people. We met all kinds employees, knowledge engineers, analysts, talent development associates, program coordinators, and even the VP!

Jaclyn's boss, Alex, joined my fellow campus reps and I are for some great discussions about the organization. At lunch, we met the rest of the staff and were allowed questions and to share stories about ourselves. I cannot tell you what a blessing this trip was. The staff at Reasoning Mind is all about their mission: helping kids through math education.

I have so much more to tell you. I really wanna share with you all the specifics my campus recruiters and I talked with Jaclyn and Alex about. But, I'm exhausted and off to bed. Thank you to Reasoning Mind's Houston Team, Jaclyn, Alex, & my fellow campus recruiters for an amazing weekend and awesome look into the company that truly will impact future generations in a positive way. I've never left an organization feeling more sure that I want to be a part of it. That's it for now... but enjoy the first two pictures: #1 Reasoning Mind Campus Recruiters' Team (including our Talent Development Team, bosses Alex & Jaclyn)
#2 Our boss, Jaclyn--sitting on a very large bean bag, one of several which populate the office. :)
